On 25 September, the pupils of Hillhead Primary in Glasgow staged two special performances of our primary schools show The Last Aliens, as part of Scotland’s Climate Week.
During Climate Week, which took place from 23 to 29 September, communities and organisations from all across Scotland come together to celebrate and encourage climate action, and learn more about tackling climate change.
To mark this important event, we asked the pupils to perform The Last Aliens, an intergalactic adventure for primary 5 to 7 about saving planet Earth, composed by Alan Penman with lyrics by Ross Stenhouse.
In their own classrooms, the primary 6 pupils learnt five fantastic songs from this funny and relevant show, and then our Teaching Artists team arrived at the school for a morning to teach movement and choreography to prepare for the two 30-minute performances in front of fellow pupils, friends and family.
A number of special guests also attended including Phil Raines, joint Deputy Director of Domestic Climate Change Division at the Scottish Government, Laura Young, the award-winning climate activist, environmental scientist and ethical influencer, who spoke to the children about her work, and Jacqueline McLaren, Lord Provost of Glasgow.
