Congratulations to Roland Wood, who has made The List’s Hot 100 for 2024!
For more than 15 years, The List magazine has curated one hundred of the most influential Scottish cultural contributors and dedicated an issue to celebrating them, and Roland, an internationally renowned baritone, is recognised at number 41 for his operatic talents. (Our Music Director, Stuart Stratford, and General Director, Alex Reedijk, were included in previous Hot 100 lists for their work.)
A favourite of ours for a number of years, Roland recently featured in high-profile roles including Karl Marx in the UK premiere of Jonathan Dove’s Marx in London!, and Creon in Oedipus Rex, in a co-presentation with Edinburgh International Festival this August. He also performed the roles of Michele and Gianni Schicchi in our production of Il trittico, staged in March 2023, which was nominated for an International Opera Award, and won Outstanding achievement in Opera at the Critics’ Circle Awards 2023.
To celebrate the Hot 100, The List hosted a party at Assembly Roxy in Edinburgh, championing the best that the Scottish arts scene has to offer.
