Following our announcement that we are returning to Edinburgh International Festival in August with a production of Oedipus Rex, we are thrilled to reveal the names of the cast performing Igor Stravinsky’s timeless piece.

Our former Emerging Artist, Shengzhi Ren (Daphne 2023), performs the role of Oedipus, King of Thebes, Kitty Whately (Don Giovanni 2022) is Jocasta, Roland Wood (Marx in London! 2024) is her brother, Creon, Emyr Wyn Jones (Don Giovanni 2022) is the Messenger, with Callum Thorpe is Tiresias and Seumas Begg as the Shepherd. Seumas, (an RCS graduate who has performed with Opera Bohemia around Scotland and also features on an upcoming recording with our orchestra), and Callum (who was originally scheduled to perform our The French Collection concert) are both making their debuts with us.
