BBC RADIO 3 TO BROADCAST EUGENE ONEGIN

Scottish Opera’s performance of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3’s Opera on 3 programme on Saturday 16 June at 6.30pm.

The new production, directed by Oliver Mears (Director of Opera, The Royal Opera), was recorded at Theatre Royal Glasgow during its run in late April.

Scottish Opera’s Music Director, Stuart Stratford conducts a cast of international talent. Award-winning Welsh soprano Natalya Romaniw (Rusalka 2016) sings Tatyana, and former Jette Parker Young Artist Samuel Dale Johnson (The Marriage of Figaro 2016) is Eugene Onegin. Peter Auty (Flight 2018) is Vladimir Lensky and former Scottish Opera Emerging Artist Sioned Gwen Davies (Flight 2018) is Olga.

The last Scottish Opera performance broadcast on Radio 3 was its award-winning Pelléas and Mélisande in March 2017.  This not-to-be-missed broadcast of Tchaikovsky’s heart-wrenching opera will be presented on-air by Donald MacLeod.
