Scottish Opera 2017/18 Emerging Artist singers Catherine Backhouse, Laura Zigmantaite, Alexey Gusev and Alex Otterburn will give a recital at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on Friday 8 December at 1pm.
Accompanied by Scottish Opera’s Head of Music Derek Clark and Emerging Artist repetiteur Patrick Milne, the four young singers will take to the stage to perform a programme of operatic highlights, including numbers from Rachmaninov, Brahms and Ptichkin.
This Autumn, Catherine Backhouse, Laura Zigmantaite and Alex Otterburn have all had roles in La traviata, while Alexey Gusev has travelled around Scotland with the Company’s popular Opera Highlights tour. Laura and Alex also recorded the song ‘Impossible Stuff’ with Teen Canteen’s Carla J. Easton as part of BBC Arts Digital’s #OperaPassion Day.
In February, Alex reprises his critically acclaimed role as Eddy in Greek, before taking on roles in Ariadne auf Naxos and Eugene Onegin. Laura will play Dryad in Ariadne auf Naxos, and Alexey takes the roles of the Wig Maker in Ariadne auf Naxos and the Captain in Eugene Onegin. Catherine will be touring around Scotland with Opera Highlights in the Spring.
There will be a second Emerging Artist recital at the University of Glasgow Concert Hall on Thursday 11 January at 1.10pm.
