Part of the Edinburgh International Festival
Following the sell-out success of 2008’s I Puritani, Francesco Corti conducts a one-off, concert performance of Puccini’s highly dramatic and brilliantly orchestrated La fanciulla del West, as part of the Edinburgh International Festival.
Set in the mid-19th century during the California gold-rush, this is a fast-moving tale of love, jealousy, gambling, banditry and violence, and their effect on a tight knit community of miners living high in the Sierra Madre Mountains. Featuring the biggest orchestration of all Puccini’s operas, played by The Orchestra of Scottish Opera, a stellar cast of principals and the Edinburgh Festival Chorus – catch it while you can.
Usher Hall, Edinburgh
