As you can see from the timeline below, since work started on the Theatre Royal in August 2012, progress towards the much-needed improvements has been rapid. The Theatre closed in February 2014 and will re-open in May 2014 for performances of Madama Butterfly, with the new foyers and facilities being fully complete in July in time for performances of Scottish Opera’s productions of Anamchara and Madama Butterfly during the Commonwealth Games.
